Busy busy…

Linda Lindstedt, 16 Dec 2008 (12:20)

Interesting how my placement turned out to be exactly as any job I had. The weeks before Christmas is always the busiest during the year. And for some reason I have more to do now than I had over the past 3,5 months all together. Hmm… Well no question about it I will definitely be busy at De-Con Amsterdam next year. I like it already. I realised I’ve spent 20 days of my 113 days of the first placment here in Amsterdam.

But it’s so cold here. I miss the hot thermalbaths in Budapest. Lucky me I’m going back this Thursday to finish things off, join Kirowskis x-mas party, clean out the flat, buy a suitcase full of sausages, take a last hot bath, eat a big plate of Borjúpapikasz and then fly off in Sunday afternoon to Gothenburg.

Are you in New York, London or Toronto?

Linda Lindstedt, 20 Nov 2008 (04:46)

What to do in New York when feeling energetic, hung over, sophisticated or just want to chill?

It’s far from complete this somewhat-tourist-guide but I find it pretty neet. As it seems the best city at the moment is New York, but it also has a London version and a Toronto beta version. Maybe the guys in those citys can start putting in their favourites.

Check it out.

Been reeeeally busy lately …

Linda Lindstedt, 12 Nov 2008 (06:46)

The last 10 days been like a never ending rush hour for me. First of all I had friends here visiting, giving them the grand tour of Budapest, unfortunately I had to leave them half way through and head to Amsterdam.

I met up with the De-Construct team in Amsterdam to kick off some projects that I will be distance working with from Budapest. After 3 days in A’dam I jumped on a flight to Gothenburg, Sweden where my prescence was needed. I speed dated friends and after two days I went back to Budapest with new visitors in the baggage.

So there I was again, doing the grand tour and trying to be the perfect hostess when I most of all just wanted to sleep. The last week has been crazy. But fun. More fun than crazy I would say. Lots of work, late night with nice dinners and early mornings trying to catch flights or just getting up to be all sparkling and fantastic at work :)

Thanks Olivia+Johannes and Lotta+Katja for coming here.

Blossa Glögg 08

Linda Lindstedt, 29 Oct 2008 (10:40)

Yesterday I went out to IKEA to fetch me an extra mattress that I need for incoming Budapest visitors. On my way out I spotted a small area where they had put up store with ginger bread, the typical “christmas” chocolate Aladdin, special tea blends and so on. All of a sudden I see the glögg. Kind of Swedish glüewein. THis particulary bottle is a special blend that comes out in limited editions every year made from traditional Swedish berries and spices. And because of that it is always really hard to get your hands on a bottle. This years flavour is blueberry! Weeho!

It wont start selling until 3 November in Sweden, but it seems that abroad thery’re not as picky when and how to sell it :) So if you live nearby an IKEA, hurry hurry.

Cookies IRL

Linda Lindstedt, 27 Oct 2008 (05:12)

Today Kata B went around Kirowski handing out cookies that she made this weekend. Each cookie had an initial on it matching everyones name. Fantastic! They are so cute, I haven’t decided yet if I should save it or eat it. Hmm…

Disco bowling in Budapest

Linda Lindstedt, 19 Sep 2008 (11:15)

So yesterday we went for teambuilding activities which this time meant bowling. Pizza, beers and happy people bowling what else do you need? It was lots of fun even though I must have been one of the crappiest bowler that alley ever seen. But it was great because I could swear my anger out in Swedish without anyone understanding what I said. :) After the bowling some of us went on to a pub and kept the party going. Srry for the picture Csaba ;)

Almost like home…

Linda Lindstedt, 17 Sep 2008 (12:56)

Well being away like this on my own in a new country and agenecy sure can get a bit overwhelming at times. Even though it’s extremely fun to be a part to a place for a longer period of time  I’ve been around Budapest for some nice sightseeing but at the end of the day you just want something that feels a bit like home.

Write the blog I must…

Linda Lindstedt, 17 Sep 2008 (12:40)

Well I’m starting to pick up some hungarian words here and there. Strange language with the melody of the finnish and some endings of words that sounds like icelandic. I only know single words and not any phrases yet…but I’m getting around :) I guess I sound like the good old Yoda when I speak. – Me..bag..please. A usual phrase in the grocery store. I believe I totally destroying and miss-pronouncing the language. I’m so sorry for that.

Everyone keeps telling me how beer is spelled :)

Linda Lindstedt, 09 Sep 2008 (06:29)

I emailed all of Kirowski to get them to send me a daily word or phrase in hungarian. It seems to work really good, but for some reason everyone believes the most important word to know is beer ;) In hungarian it spells sör.

Which of cousre is a really good word to know. No swearing yet though, I’m guessing those words will come after all the beers.
