Cooliris & Maple Leafs

Manne Hermansson, 09 Dec 2008 (07:08)

Come across a nice plug-in for a much better web browsing experience, Cooliris.

“Cooliris provides a lightning fast, cinematic way to discover the Web. Our plug-in takes you to an expansive “3D Wall” that lets you browse thousands of images, videos, and more with ease and speed.”

Now with less then two weeks left at Mindblossom, I am trying my hardest to finnish all things that I want to do. Both at work and private. One private thing was to see a game at Air Canada Centre to see Toronto Maple Leafs play. So I went to a game yesterday to see Toronto Maple Leafs beat New York Islanders. The tickets were expensive but it was so worth the experience.

Next stop Canada

Eskil Busck Andersen, 09 Dec 2008 (11:59)

I just got my next placement confirmed.

I’m going to Toronto, Canada from the 26th of January until the 24th of April and the agency is the well-known (if you have followed Manne’s postings) Mindblossom.

I still don’t know much about Canada, beside from what most people probably know… here’s my knowledge before/without Wikipedia and Google:

1. The country is huge (3-5th biggest by area in the world - Russia, China, Canada, Brazil and Australia… hmm… have to check that when this is posted)
2. Biggest cities: Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and the capital Ottawa.
3. Hosted the winter Olympics more than once… Host city: Calgary.
4. Have some of the best ski resorts in the world.
5. It’s possible to drive from Canada to the North pole (on a good day)… Yes, I’m watching Top Gear. (BTW: I think the magnetic North pole is somewhere in Newfoundland - even easier to drive to).
6. Loads of bears, salmons and other animals
7. More guns per inhabitant than in the US, but less crime!
8. Part of the NHL (Have to find a team in Toronto to support)
9. Strong French and English heritage - but I guess the Frenchness is primarily in Quebec.
10. Birth place of Leonard Cohen, Celine Dion and Atiba Hutchinson (footballer in FCK)
11. Blamed by South Park
12. Have a red and white flag with a maple leaf
13. Have the worlds largest in-bay (don’t know what the correct definition is, but it’s…) Hudson Bay (I’ve been playing too much Trivial Pursuit)
14. Fighting with Greenland/Denmark over a ridiculous small Island called Hans Ø (probably another name in Canadian - maybe Hans Island)
15. The Canadian top domain is .ca.

I guess that’s it. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Excellent work

Manne Hermansson, 03 Dec 2008 (04:35)

After finishing a pitch that we been working on, Daren the COO sent out an email to personally thank us for excellent work. It is very inspiring to work on a big pitch like this and I have learned a lot during the journey.

This week has been very busy for me at work so far and it seems to continue in that pace. Hoping to produce a lot of excellent work.

Btw, this is my charismatic boss.

Intensive work for a pitch

Manne Hermansson, 24 Nov 2008 (12:56)

Lately we have been working on a pitch for a “tiny” car. It has truly went like a roller coaster, with its up´s and down´s. But now we are having a really good flow and I think we having something really good going on. Tomorrow its time for video shooting for the pitch. That is going to be so much fun!

By the way, winter has reached Toronto. It is so cold now!

Narrow alley

Manne Hermansson, 18 Nov 2008 (07:08)

Toronto has many interesting alley´s, but maybe there are a few that are a little bit too narrow.

Toronto had an hangover yesterday

Manne Hermansson, 03 Nov 2008 (01:38)

The day after Hallowe´en I was going to work, yes I know it was on a saturday. So on my way I was noticing the silence I hadn´t experienced in Toronto before. It was so quiet! That made me thinking of all the crazy Hallowe´en parties I went to and that maybe many Toronto citizens were in their homes suffering a big hangover.

Running in cold weather

Manne Hermansson, 29 Oct 2008 (06:23)

It was tuesday afternoon and time for me to go out running again. This time wasn´t as pleasant as before. The winter is coming closer to Toronto and today was cold and windy. We are a few people from Farfar Academy who are still running and post our times at Nike+. Well, I suppose I have to see for how long I can run outside beside Lake Ontario.

Successful presentation

Manne Hermansson, 23 Oct 2008 (11:55)

Yesterday, two of my co-workers and I successfully presented to a client who ended up leaving very happy. The meeting left me feeling great. Its the biggest boost so far.

Spending a lot of time with my co-workers

Manne Hermansson, 21 Oct 2008 (07:05)

At my spare time I have so much fun with my co-workers at Mindblossom. Last saturday I was bicycling in Toronto with Kyra who I mostly work with. After hours of bicycling was it time for meeting up Zack and John. Zack is a web developer and designer at Mindblossom and John is a former employee at Mindblossom who now works for Taxi as a interactive designer. We all share the same interests: design+fashion=shopping.

After that was it time for dinner before going to a concert and finally ending up at a club continuing dancing.
