As I mentioned on my blog, if I have to choose 3 of the around 50 ads I would choose these:
1. Coca-Cola ”Heist”, (Wieden & Kennedy)
Beautiful and sweet, I like fairytales. The animations and the music, it gave me a warm feeling inside.
2. CareerBuilder.com "Tips", (Wieden & Kennedy) I love the "falling down moments", hysterica, and the ”koala punsh”, this is definitely to cross the line of anger...
3. Budweiser ”Clydesdale Stick”, (DDB, Chicago)
To transfer human behaviours on animals works most of the time. I mean, the look in the eyes of the horse, I know the feeling.
Adland is good shit. And Superbowl is an interesting phenomenon that puts advertising to the agenda for the "man in the street". Everyone is having an oppinion about the commercials, atleast in the US and since many years it has of course spread globally thanks to bloggs and sites like Adland.
But the advertising also sells Superbowl in one way. These two things goes together. Everyone knows that the major brands put an extra effort to come up with their best commercial ever. And if you miss out what was the best commerical of the Superbowl you also miss out on the big topic at the coffe machine the Monday after the game. And who want´s that?
To speak about American football and marketing there is impossible not to mention Troy Polamalu, the guy with the long fluffy black hair, playing for the Pitsburgh Steelers. He really stands out, both in the way he plays but also for his looks. It´s not a surprise that both Nike and Pepsi have used him in their commercials. He is the only guy I know by name in the whole NFL. And I couldn´t care less about the sport.
Still..I havent had time to check them.
But I would like to present to you – Adland. It's a great commercial archive from way back in time. It's build up by åsk weppling a swedish femme fatale :)
She gets over 50 000 hits a day so please do check into her great ad community.
Adland – http://commercial-archive.com And why did I write all this, because she has ALL Superbowl films for several years back.
Have fun!
3.Bridgestone who put two astrodudes in a car and drove around on the moon. The music, the dudes and last but not least the end made them my number three.
2. Dannys "Thugs". It is something hilarious and pleasent to watch hardcore hitmen lose their image to the price of pancakes and whipped cream.
But it was a close call to:
3. Pepsi – "I'm good". Stupid men in stupid situations are a classic that works as virals and as TVC:s. At least for me.
But, I wonder how many clicks cash4gold.com got. It's not a surprise they ran a spot in this lovely time of credit crunch.
3. Pepsi Refresh Anthem - using Bob Dylan is a cheap trick, but it works. 2. An even cheaper trick is to use monkeys, but I like it. Grease Monkeys is my runner-up. 1. But my winner is: The Whip cream Mafia dudes! Especially the amplified whip cream spray sound!
(BTW: Smashing up a Merc from the 70s, a BMW from the 80s and not even wanting to drive the Lexus from the 90s is a clever reference from Audi, but their sister-brand VW have a good motto: "Aus Liebe zum Autos" and I think that is way stronger than destroying Merc's and BMWs.)
